The Dearborn Realtist Board kicked off the Memorial Day weekend with the “Community Wealth Building Day” at Malcolm X College where nearly 300 attendees gathered to gain information on homeownership. The program included representatives from various banking institutions, public grant assistance and realtors on hand to speak with potential homeowners, current ones and those seeking a career in real estate.
Throughout the day, realtor experts provided their expertise at workshops helping individuals become more familar with the process of purchasing a home, on-site credit analysis, etc. Media personalities, WGCI morning show co-host Leon Rogers and Windy City Live co-host, Val Warner were on hand to emcee the festivities along with DJ Maurice ‘Ice’ Culpepper spinning music.
The event was free to the public with family friendly activies for children from face painting to complimentary samples from food trucks for registered participants.
